FAQ's.

Q: What should I expect from right after I book a timeslot, all the way to shoot day and after?

A: So the process is pretty straightforward. Once you’ve secured your time slot, you’ll be prompted to another page where you’ll book the writing session with Drawlive’s company writer. Once the writing session is booked, you’ll meet with our writer on your chosen day; where you and your scene partner will discuss the scene and how to properly craft it for your reel in a way that works for the both of you. After that, it’s on you to memorize! All actors are expected to show up to set fully memorized and ready to shoot.

On the day of the shoot, actors are expected to be on set no more or less than 10 minutes before their scheduled time slot. We’ll have two cameras set up and ready to record, and marks laid out for the actors. Once both actors are ready, they’ll perform their scene for thirty minutes, and then once their thirty minutes is up we’ll rotate out the next group!

Q: Can we add any moving shots, or change the setup for my scene?

A: No. Our days have been set up with block scheduling; meaning each group has the same thirty minutes to perform their scene. So moving things around such as lights, cameras, and set pieces would cause you and your partner to go over time. Each of the five time slots are setup to where each duo comes onto set and gets on their mark, and then we run the scene for 30 minutes. Allowing up to ten minutes of grace period.

Q: How long are the scenes?

A: Each scene is no more than 1.5-2 pages.

Q: Do you write the scene for us? Or do we write the scene ourselves?

A: The purchase of a reel session comes with a writing session with our company writer. Once the time slot has been secured, you’ll book a writing session at least 1 week prior to the shoot so you have time to memorize.

Q: I’m a writer! Can I write my own scene?

A: Yes absolutely! You still will have to meet with our company writer and your scene partner just to make sure everything is up to the standard of what we need during the shoot.

Q: What if we don’t have a scene partner and want to sign up as an individual?

A: That’s totally okay! We have a prompt for that with an option to sign up as an individual or with a scene partner. BUT… Signing up as an individual doesn’t mean you get a solo time slot. We’ll still find another actor to be in the scene with you.

Q: Are there rehearsals before the shoot?

A: We heavily encourage you and your scene partner to meet as much as you’d like to rehearse before the shoot! But we won’t be hosting any rehearsals for you.

Q: I’m a writer! Can I make my own adjustments to the scene?

A: Anything that makes you feel more prepared and confident before the shoot is fine with us! HOWEVER… If you do make changes, please contact the company writer to make sure everything still fits the standard for what we need for the shoot.

Q: Can I add a new location to the scene? Say we’re shooting in a diner, can we just quickly move out to the parking lot? Or to the bathroom?

A: No. The lighting and cameras will already be pre-set before the first time slot arrives and shoots. We won’t be able to adjust the setup at all. Under any circumstances.

Q: So I’ll only get one angle then? What if I want a closeup?

A: That’s totally fine! We have that prepared. Both cameras will be equipped with zoom lenses so we can reframe the shot, but can’t physically move the location of the tripod/camera setup.

Q: I signed up as an individual! What if I don’t get along with the scene partner that signed up for the same time slot?

A: Yeah that’s never fun, we understand how frustrating and demoralizing it can be to work with someone who’s not the best at collaborating. If you’re running into ANY problems of ANY KIND with your scene partner, DO NOT HESITATE to contact us. We have a contact page where you can email us at any time, with any issues. We’ll work with you to get it resolved.

Q: I paid the deposit for a timeslot, but now I have to cancel. Can I get a refund?

A: Our $100 deposit is non-refundable. The deposit is made so we can secure location rental.

Q: I paid the full price for my time slot, but now I need to cancel. Can I get a refund?

A: If you paid the full reel price of $250, we’ll refund you $150, but the minimum $100 deposit is kept to guarantee the location for the other actors.

Q: In what situation CAN I get a refund?

A: The only situation in which a refund will be issued is if the cancellation of the whole shoot day comes from our end at Drawlive. Which can happen if there isn’t enough interest for that
